Last week India released some draft legislation surrounding encryption. As reported by the New York Times, the proposed law “would have required users of social media and messaging applications to save plain-text versions of their messages for 90 days so that they could be shared with the police.”
September 27, 2015The Times of India reported that Internet is blocked in Azamgarh, a city in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. The block comes as a result of riots that started Sunday. As explained in India Today, the block was enacted to “restrict rumour mongering and to keep check on Internet based communication.”
