Why Isn’t There a VyprVPN App for Apple TV?

Apple recently introduced their new Apple TV in October, and the tvOS allows developers to create apps. As a result, we’ve had some questions about if we’re planning to build a VyprVPN App for the new Apple TV.

Although tvOS allows developers to build apps, Apple controls the VPN connections to their platforms and has not provided VPN functionality for Apple TV. Specifically, Apple locks the networkextension APIs, and since we don’t have the ability to change network settings we unfortunately can’t build a VyprVPN App for Apple TV. This problem is not unique to us – many other VPN providers have encountered the same issue.

Using VyprVPN with Apple TV

The good news is you can still use VyprVPN with your Apple TV! There are 3 ways to do so:

1. The VyprVPN Router App – also protects every device connected to your home network

2. Internet connection sharing from your Mac to your Apple TV

3. Setup VyprVPN manually in your DD-WRT or Tomato router
